Reverend Rob Benson, Pastor
Robin Ann Barron, Organist and Music Director
René Colson Hudson, Director of Christian Education
Paul Dickson, Administrative Assistant
Rob and his family have lived on Mount Desert Island since 2002. He loves music and swimming (especially outside); Cristy, Rob’s wife, teaches physics and chemistry and manages the lab at Bar Harbor’s College of the Atlantic. Their sons, Peter and Jacob, attend Mount Desert Elementary and are active in local music, robotics, and sports programs. “We love the spirit of community here on MDI and are especially grateful for the warm reception by the Bar Harbor Congregational Church. We are excited to see how the Spirit will move and lead us together in service to God.”
Robin Ann Barron has been a church organist and music director for 36 years, and a public school music teacher for grades pre-K through 12 in Maine and Vermont. She’s currently taking the Master Gardener course through Hancock County Cooperative Extension. She loves gardening, music, drama, films, reading, cooking, flyfishing and fiber arts. She lives in Sullivan with her dog Renny and her cat Spooky. Her favorite kind of humor runs mostly to British TV – Jeeves & Wooster, Monty Python, Black Adder and Fawlty Towers.
René Colson Hudson, our Christian Education Coordinator, brings a wealth of extensive experience both in and beyond the local church. She has directed and promoted Christian Education since 1991, working extensively with children, youth, and families, and more recently has developed expertise in contemplative spirituality. Through her kind, authentic, and relational work she encourages people of all ages to pursue deeper relationships with God and with one another.
Prior to moving to Maine, René served as chaplain at Riverview estates, a long-term care community in Riverton, New Jersey. Before that she served for nearly 12 years as Pastor of First Baptist Church in Moorestown, NJ, and holds ordained standing in the American Baptist Churches USA.
Paul Dickson came to Mount Desert Island in 2002 and has served as our Parish Administrator since February 2006. Also an active musician, he has served as organist and choir director in churches in Rhode Island and Maine. He and his wife Mimi live on the ‘quiet side’ of MDI, in a house that Tyler the Beagle graciously allows them to occupy with him. If you have any questions about our congregation, please do not hesitate to contact Paul in the office by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by telephone at 207-288-3280. We look forward to hearing from you!
